Rolling Stock Drawings
As drawings become available I shall endeavor to post them here. These first 5 drawings are of several variants of WDLR (British) Class "A" & "B" 4w open wagons. These vehicles were amongst the first produced for the British War department, once they had finally accepted the need for light railways. Unfortunately (unless you know otherwise) there are no known surviving vehicles of this type. All these drawings have been kindly provided by the Author - Peter Foley. Please click on each drawing to view in a new window & print with ease.
The following couple of drawings are of the WDLR Class "C" bogie open wagon. These were the first bogie wagons produced, they were superseded fairly quickly by the much more numerous Class "D" open wagon.
The following drawing is of the WDLR Class "D" bogie open wagon. These wagons were built by many manufacturers to the same standard design (built with both wooden & steel frames). The Class 'D' became the standard wagon for trench railway use - being adaptable for almost any purpose.
This next drawing is for the "Ambulance Van". The primary information for this drawing came from the remaining Gloucester c&W drawings & photographic evidence of surviving examples.
These drawings show the layout of the WDLR "Workshop Train". These trains (only a few were known to have been built & enter service in France) were a fully functioning self-contained workshop which could be deployed anywhere along the front lines. Again, this is a representation of the Gloucester C&W vehicles.
