After WW1, the Hunslet Engine company made good use of being able to buy back it's own locomotives from the War Office. Subsequently it was able to offer fully refurbished 4-6-0T locomotives, for sale at a very competitive price with short delivery times. Around 1924 the Hunslet 4-6-0T locomotives started finding favour with Australian sugar cane producers - perhaps as a result of Australian Troops being familiar with them? Indeed, at total of about 26 locomotives seem to have been shipped to Australian sugar cane mills. At total of 5 Hunslet 4-6-0T locomotives survive in private preservation (unless you know otherwise (replace (AT) with @ to make address work)?).

There is also a former US Army Baldwin 2-6-2T (wn#46828) preserved. This locomotive is one of three bought for use on the main line of the Penrhyn Quarries railway in Wales (UK), where it gained the name 'Felin-Hen' (which it still carries). It was not suited to the railway & eventually it was sold to Fairymead Mill in Queensland.

"Felin-Hen" Photographed in 1999, the loco as seen
is stored in a sub-shed of Qanaba Mill, part of the Fairymead system. It
is now in the care of the Bundaberg Steam Tramway Preservation Society.
Restoration is progressing.
